About Weathertex
Weathertex is Australian hardwood timber Weatherboards and Architectural Panels. It is an evolutionary product made in Raymond Terrace NSW at the original 1939 Masonite Factory. Massive investment in production upgrades, computerisation and painting facilities have been made since Weathertex’s introduction as an evolved product in 1962.
Weathertex is turning negatives into big positives. Who would have thought that an industrial factory would return massive carbon savings long before it is compulsory to do so. Weathertex proudly boasts that they have a negative carbon footprint already - no mean feat for any company.
100% Australian owned and manufactured, we use only certified state forest or private hardwoods that are chipped from logs, then pulped in a mason gun and repressed with 3% natural wax to make the perfect Weathertex plank you purchase.
So whether you are seeking external timber cladding for a renovation, extension, new home, or any commercial application, Weathertex Weatherboards and Architectural Panels offer an endless variety of external timber cladding solutions.
Just how ‘green’ is Weathertex?
Weathertex puts sustainability and durability at the forefront of all our products. Made from environmentally sustainable Australian hardwood, Weathertex is an all natural product with 97% hardwood and 3% natural wax with no chemical additives.

How Weathertex is Made?
Weathertex Weatherboards is made by breaking down local hardwood, from sawmill tailings, and thinnings from managed forests, to its constituted fibres using steam and pressure. This eliminates the grains, knots and gum vein that cause natural timber Weatherboards to split and crack. No old growth hardwood is used, so the source of the timber is environmentally friendly.
The fibres are then strained in a liquid bath that removes all of the natural sugars and starches, which makes the finished product unattractive to termites and white ants. 3% natural wax is then added to improve the durability of the finished product. The 'wet-lap' as it is known is then reformed under great pressure and high temperature in one of four 'multi-daylight' presses. This not only thins the wet-lap to about 9.5mm, but also activates the natural lignins in the timber, which forms the 'glue' that holds the fibres together.
The end result is a very dense hardwood that has no artificial additives, and is of a random fibre pattern that eliminates delamination and promotes moisture resistance. It is this dense, random structure that allows the product to be successfully used in external applications and ideal for internal applications. It also allows nails to be driven close to edges without pre-drilling.
